Bitumen Processing Tanks

60 and 90m² Bitumen tanks

Ewing Construction worked with Downer / RoadScience to design, build and supply several heated, insulated bitumen tanks for their sites in Lyttelton, Taranaki and Mt Maugnanui. The tanks were 3.3m diameter and were fitted with electric heater coils inserted into base-mounted pipes.

These tanks were designed in-house using a combination of traditional welding / construction techniques and sheet metal processes, extensively using CAD modelling and DXF files with our suppliers to procure fully profiled, rolled parts.

Employing this hybrid construction method enables our tradesmen to focus their skills on the areas where their experience adds the greatest quality and efficiency, minimising fabrication/fitting time and in this instance enabling the build of several tanks concurrently.
